  • 1 July at 6.30 p.m.
  • Maria Carme Junyent Figueras Library (Auditorium)

With the collaboration of the Town Council of Masquefa, we organise the presentation of the book ‘Pasqual Maragall i l'Europa pròxima’ (Pasqual Maragall and the next Europe) to the municipality.

This volume deals with the experience of the mayor of the Olympic Games and the international projection of Barcelona, of the man and political leader who was struck by and committed to peace during the Balkan conflict, of the promoter of city diplomacy and decentralised cooperation in the Mediterranean, of the president of the Committee of the Regions, of the professor at the Università Roma Tre who studies, thinks, debates and reflects on Europe with academics and political leaders.

Pasqual Maragall i Mira (Barcelona, 1941), Mayor of Barcelona and President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, has been an important figure in Catalan and Spanish politics over the last forty years. Continuing with the desire to analyse and make him known, the Fundació Catalunya Europa has promoted a new research project in addition to the two already published on his figure and his political action: Pasqual Maragall. Pasqual Maragall. Pensament i acció and Maragall i el govern de la Generalitat: les polítiques del canvi. This time, the aim is to examine in greater depth his commitment to the project of European political integration and his tireless international activity, driven by the conviction of the importance of Europe as a fundamental, necessary political arena for the future.
