The Representation of the European Commission in Barcelona and the Catalunya Europa Foundation annually organize the Europa Youth Award with the aim of promoting knowledge, interest, and research among high school students regarding European realities.
OBJECTIVE
a. The Europa Youth Award recognizes high school research projects that address a topic related to the European Union, its history, functioning, institutions, or challenges.
The work’s critical and proactive nature will be valued, as well as its thematic relevance to one of the EU’s priorities for the 2024–2029 political cycle.
b. It is essential that the submitted projects have a predominantly European dimension, meaning that the approach to the topic must include not only a geographical perspective but also consider the European political, economic, historical, social, or cultural reality.
AWARD AND DISSEMINATION
a. A first prize of €500 and up to two runner-up prizes of €250 each are planned. These amounts are subject to income tax withholding according to current legislation.
b. The award will also include a visit to the European institutions in Brussels, departing from Barcelona, with transportation, accommodation, and per diem expenses included.
c. If the awarded project corresponds to a group, the amount will be divided equally among all members.
d. The prizes will be presented at a ceremony at the European Commission’s office in Barcelona, and the awarded projects will be published digitally on the websites of both organizing entities.
ELIGIBILITY
a. The award is open to high school students from all secondary education centers in Catalonia.
b. Projects can be carried out individually or in groups of up to three people, and must have been submitted during the 2025–2026 school year in Catalan, Spanish, English, or French.
