On 9 May, we filled the afternoon with activity, reflection and celebration to mark Europe Day with a day full of civic engagement and vitality.
We started with an inspiring debate featuring the winners of the Young Europe Awards, who shared their ideas and hopes for the future of the continent through their research and videos on what Europe means to them. Through their critical and constructive insights, this new generation reminds us that Europe is not just a legacy of the past, but a shared responsibility and a living project that needs to be rethought and strengthened every day.
Afterwards, more than a thousand people and almost a hundred organisations and institutions gathered in the Avenida de la Catedral to take part in the Europe is us rally, a collective act to vindicate the values that unite us: democracy, peace, solidarity and freedom. A manifesto committed to human rights and coexistence was read out, reminding us that only with active and critical citizenship can we face the challenges of today and tomorrow.
