Sustainable EU corporate law for sustainable development: An interdisclipinary view



Modern corporate laws have not yet found the appropriate solutions to the relevant problems of the environmental and social impacts of current production systems. The need to consider these issues in corporate decision making requires academic activity on this topic. This article aims to explore the importance of the corporate legal framework for a shift towards sustainable production processes, along with the pressing need for sustainability and the importance of corporate influence in the general natural and social environment.

Corporate law is essential for business development, its impact on society and the environment is considerable. In this sense, this paper explores the nature and level of success of corporate social responsibility in mitigating the deficiencies of maximizing shareholder value and achieving internalization of excessive corporate externalities, arguing that the soft law approach to Companies did not provide sufficient impetus for a long-term shift towards sustainable production methods.
